Lifesaving & Leadership Programs
Canadian Swim Patrol
| For Youth ages 8 to 15 years old and
have completed YMCA Star 2. This is a high energy, fun
filled program that develops the basic strokes, endurance,
fitness training, lifesaving techniques and first aid
skills. There are three levels in this program, Rookie,
Ranger, and Star. |
Bronze Star
 |
Youth ages 10 and up may enroll in this program. A good
pre-requisite to Bronze Medallion. Great for children who
have taken Canadian Swim Patrol or Junior Lifeguards. More
Challenging and more advanced lifesaving and first aid
skills are taught. |
Bronze Medallion
 |
For Teens Aged 13 and up.
Water Rescue Techniques including judgment, knowledge,
skills and fitness are taught in this
pre-requisite for Bronze Cross. |
Bronze Cross
 |
For Teens ages 14 and up.
Components of lifesaving and lifeguarding are taught. This
program is a pre-requisite for all advanced programs in
lifesaving, lifeguarding, and leadership. |
National Lifeguard (NLS) - Pool Option
 |
For those aged 16+.
Teaches the skills and techniques that are required to
become a lifeguard.
Requires prior completion of Bronze Cross |
YMCA Swimming Instructor
For ages 16+ and have a current Bronze
Cross certification.
Become a Certified YMCA Swimming Instructor!
Learn the proper techniques and skills required to teach
swimming lesson to infants, children, teens, and adults. |
