Land Acknowledgement
The YMCA of Cumberland would like to acknowledge that we are located on the ancestral, unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people in what’s currently called Canada. The Peace and Friendship Treaties of 1752 guarantee hunting, fishing, and land use rights for all descendants of the Indigenous signatories. We will continue to honour these terms on our journey towards reconciliation. We acknowledge that we are all Treaty people, and have a shared responsibility to respect and protect the territory of Turtle Island.
